Hey everyone! I am really sorry that I haven't posted anything for about a week now but it's been a difficult time at the moment with uni and personal issues. So I just wanted to tell you guys that I won't be posting anything for the rest of this week and that I'll be back on Monday with a new post. Again I am sorry but in the meantime I hope everyone is well and happy. See you guys on Monday then!

The Harbour

Last Wednesday during my break at uni I went down to Wollongong Harbour to have lunch and to do some work for class. I spent about 3 hours just walking the harbour taking photos and drawing the rocks, it was so nice to just sit back and relax a little from everything that has been happening lately. So I just wanted to show you guys some of the photo's I took as Wollongong Harbour is such a beautiful place and if you ever come and visit Australia you should come here. I will also be sharing some of my drawings from this with you guys so I hope you look forward to seeing them :)

Just A Minute in... September

Making... I have stated working on all my major works for this semester for both painting and drawing. I like how my idea for both my classes are very similar this semester.

Watching... Been watching the new series of Doctor Who and it's been amazing so far! On dvd I have been re-watching the entire Buffy series, which has also been great.

Drinking... At the moment I have been drinking some tea I purchased from T2 about a month ago called Melbourne Breakfast. It is so yummy and I have been enjoying making it in my tea for one pot.

Listening... The best download this month would definitely have to be Chances by Athlete, which is a nice slow song that has inspired me to try and take a big chance with something.

Wishing... To buy this Kings Of Carnaby dress from Gary Pepper Vintage as it's so pretty, but I need to wait for some money to transfer into my bank and its a long and frustrating process. Fingers cross that they don't sell out in my size till then.

If you wish to play along the full details of the game can be find here

Understand Still

'This is nowhere', oil on canvas, 54 x 66, 2008
'The Event', oil on canvas, 54 x 66", 2009
'I Wanna Love', oil on canvas, 66 x 54, inches 2011
'From Milan to Vienna', oil and acrylic on canvas, 66 x 54", 2006

I have kind of fallen in love with these paintings by artist Nick Lepard. He paints these intriguing self portraits and portraits of friends with these harsh brush strokes. This kind of 'quick' style is what I am looking at this semester in my painting class as we are also doing portraits. I still haven't decided on what I want to paint on yet, but I have in mind painting on wood which is really cool and exciting. Does anyone else have any new paintings/artworks/projects their about to start or stuck at the moment? Maybe we can inspire each other and get motivated to start them :)

Frankie & Smith

To every Frankie lover out there, I am more then sure that a lot of you were very excited about the first issue of Smith Journal to be out. Smith Journal is perfect for any guy (or girl) who is looking to be inspired by dreamers, thinkers, adventurers, philosophers and creatives. I myself picked up a copy on Monday along with the latest issue of Frankie to judge and see if it lived up to its expectation. Honestly, it is way better then I had imagined :)

I loved reading the articles about all the creative gents out there and hearing about what inspires them. My two favourite articles was one about the taxidermist, Ryan Hanley, and the other about old famous writers and their typewriters. To sum it up, the Smith Journal contains all in which I hope to find one day in a man. I definitely see Smith Journal becoming a big success and I can not wait for its next issue to be in my hands. If you would like to purchase your own copy online or find the closest stockist to you, then head to the Smith Journal website and do so. Trust me, you'll regret not buying this magazine if you don't.

Girl holding a paintbrush

Top Cotton On, Bowler hat Market HQ, Vintage skirt/brooch

I thought it was about time that I took some photos of me actually holding a paintbrush, since it's the name of my blog. Anyway I have been enjoying my week off from uni as it's given me some time to just relax and do lots of drawing. On Friday I have a fun day planned for myself where I'm going to be a Plein air artist for the day. For art newbies, Plein air artists are painters who paint on location in the open air. So it should be a fun and interesting day for me. I have a few spots in mind and I'll be sure to share my drawings/paintings and photos of the locations where I did them.

I just purchased this skirt on my last op shop adventure and I'm absolutely loving it. My obsession with pretty skirts is becoming a bit of a problem as I no longer have room in my closet for any more. Might be time for another clean out of old clothes that aren't need anymore. So sad yet good as then I can buy more :)
